My favorite books of 2011

Isn't reading such a joy? An adventure, a riddle, a journey! In light of the fact that reading is awesome and that we have one more day in 2011 I thought I'd give you all a look into my top seven favorite books I've discovered this year. {Yes, I know, seven is a weird number to pick}

1 - Scoop by Rene Gutteridge


This was a fantastic book! I loved all the characters and the plot was so fun and easy to understand. This one might be in my top ten favorites books of all time.

2 - Very Good, Jeeves by P. G. Wodehouse

P. G. Wodehouse is a master of humorous delight and a must read for everyone. Out of the Wodehouse books 'Very Good, Jeeves' is my favorite.




3 - The Maze Runner by James Dashner


I don't think I can even begin to describe how amazing this book is. The plot line was unbelievable and his writing made you feel like you were right there. Read this and you will be at the end of your seat the whole way.

4 - A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle

Sadly, this was my first Sherlock Holmes book I ever read. Why is that sad, you ask. Well, because Holmes books are awesome and I waited 16 years before I read one. So all in all Sherlock Holmes book are amazing and should be read by all.

5 - One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp

A beautiful book that is exactly what it says it is, 'A Dare to Live Fully Right Were You Are'.

6 - Safely Home by Randy Alcorn

This book made me laugh, and it made me cry. I loved this book and the minute I finished it I drove to a bookstore and bought it for my book shelf

7 - The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

Now, all of Agatha Christie's book are legendary but this one was unbelievable! Yes, this one is the best of Mrs. Agatha Christie.




8 - The Outcasts by John Flanagan

I was so disappointed when his Ranger's Apprentice series ended but I think his new series 'The Brotherband Chronicles' is super cool and I'm excited to continue to read it. The series ties right in with the ranger's Apprentice but with a very fun twist.

Very good, Jeeves! {book review}

After watching a couple of NCFCA speeches on some of P.G. Wodehouse's books I couldn't help but find a few and read them myself, and I must say I was very impressed. I did only read one but I make plans to read many more of his.

Today I have the pleasure of reviewing P.G. Wodehouse's book, 'Very Good, Jeeves!'.

About the book:

Very good, Jeeves! is a collection of short stories starring Bertie Wooster in eleven alarming predicaments from which he has to be rescued by peerless gentleman's gentleman. Whether Bertie is tangling with a red-headed ball of fire such as Roberta Wichham, dealing with an irate headmistress, placating a cabinet minister, puncturing the wrong hot water bottle, singing 'Sonny Boy', or simply trying to concentrate on his golf handicap, Jeeves is always there to help through rarely in ways which his employer expects. These brilliantly plotted stories give the essence of Wodehousean comedy.

My thoughts:

These funny and amazingly witty stories are forever going to be listed as one of my favorite books. I found this collection a joy and pleasure to read. I will most definitely be going to read more of his. The plot lines are amazing and his characters are even more brilliant. I would take the time to read this all over again.

genre: A fictional novel of the wittiest sort.

bad stuff: Only about one or two swear words throughout the whole book

romance: Every once and a while.

recommendation: I would give this a five star out of five.

Day 11 {female author}

This post is day 11 of 15. Can you believe it? We only have 4 more days to go. And remember it's never to late to start the 15 day challenge, whether you start from the beginning and go all the way through or start with day 11.

Day 11 - Your favorite female author

Yay! I'm really excited for this question, despite how hard it will be to chose. Hm. . . There are so many good female authors out there. Okay, I think I know my two favorite (I can't pick one ☺).

My two favorites are Agatha Christie and Jane Austen.



Both of these authors have amazing writing style, characters, plots, and consistently good books.

*sigh*

If I ever wanted to be like a certain author it would either be Agatha Christie with her mind twisting plots or Jane Austen with her unforgettable characters. Both of these authors know what it means to write good books that stand the test of time.

And what about you? What is your favorite female author?

Day 7 {favorites. . .again}

Day 7 - Your favorite genre to write.

Hm. . . This one is going to be hard to pick. I love to write poetry! But fantasy is so much fun! Then there's sci-fiction. Hm. . .

Well, I guess I'm going to have to cheat on this one. I don't have one favorite when it comes to writing, so I'll just pick two of many:

~ Poetry

~ Humorous short stories


Why these two in particular?

Well, poetry is an unexplainable joy to read and write. Songs and stories put to paper in a way that flows like a breeze on a spring day.

And then there's humorous short stories. Now these are what, I believe, I'm best at. Stories that don't require logic or sense. I guess that's why I'm best at it. ☺
