Hello Inspiration {excerpt}

Hello Inspiration,

My name is, Lèrowen. I've been seeing allot of you lately. And let me tell you you are welcome at any time. Would like some tea, coffee, cookies? Anything to make you comfortable and productive.

Signed your fan,
Lèrowen

Don't you just love it when inspiration starts to lean in your favor. Well, it leaned today and I got out a bit of writing for my current writing project, the one with my main character Amy. I did and Beautiful People post on her a few days ago if your curious.

Here is a short little excerpt on my book if any of you would like to take a look. I LOVE comments and opinions.
A mechanical noise signals that someone has opened the door, that annoying, same, humdrum noise. That someone is me. Dreaming about the day when I can quit this job, this annoying, same, humdrum job. And the bell rings again, the customer is the typical teens looking for a video game. That's my job, helping people find things to waste their time. The time they don't realize is fleeting. I remember those day, those teen-age years. I shake my head to get rid of the thought.
They never told you the things you'd do different. They never explained how much it hurt. No use living in the past.
I greet the two teen girls. Their bright skinny jeans and skin tight t-shirts beg for attention. But that doesn't define them. Their more than their clothes and boyfriends, even if they don't know it yet. I help them find a game and convince them to take advantage of the buy one get one half off deal.
I hate my job.

Confessions of a word weaver

Something I love...
William Shakespeare's plays and poetry. Which seems so weird to me being that a month ago I would have said I'm not a fan of his at all.

Something I hate...
Cheesy "love" relationships between main characters.

Something that makes me giddy...
Reading Edger Allen Poe's, The Raven, to myself in whispers at night. (Call me crazy but I love it!)

Something that brings tears to my eyes...
The death of a character. Especially one of my own.

Something that makes me giggle...
Everybody else witty characters. I can never seem to make any of my own.

Something I believe...
That the words you use are a window to your soul

Something loathe...
Unruly main characters. What is more terrible than than a hero who refuses to play the role?

So there it is: confessions of a word weaver and a spinner of tales. What about you? Any confessions?

Day 4 {inspiration}

Day 4 - A novel or author that has inspired something in your writing style.

The author was Howard Whitehouse.
The book was 'The Strictest School in the World. Being the Tale of a Clever Girl, a Rubber Boy, and a Collection of Fly Machines, mostly broken'. Humorously clever!

This book totally put all of the rules behind it. With no apparent period in time and full to the brim with pure silliness, I fell in love with it.

What this book and author inspired in my writing style is hard to say. Being that I'm not the best at writing serious novels this book helped show me that that's okay. I can still write awesome books even if they aren't the longest or most serious.

It was similar with authors like: Roald Dahl and Shel Silverstein. Along with books like: Muddle Earth (by Chris Riddle and Paul Stewart) and A Porcupine Named Fluffy (by Helen Lester).

So what about you? Who or what has inspired something in your writing style?

Slow Down (a poem)

I have recently found a love in poetry. Not all poetry, but some. I like the kind of poetry that has a rhythm and flow. A poem with meaning, even if it's not apparent at first.

I want to share one of my favorite poems with you. I read it about a year ago on a blog. And it's been one of my favorites ever since.

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask 'How are you'?
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child
We'll so it tomorrow?
And in your haste
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say 'Hi'

You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry
Through you day.
It's like an unopened gift...Thrown away.

Life is not a race
Do take it slower.
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

This was written by a young girl terminally ill with cancer. Take the time to read it, it's worth the read.

Stay Inspired!

I don't think it's to hard to get inspired. What's hard is to stay inspired. Some days you wake up with the illusion that everything is in place, and then as soon as you get your time on the computer . . .BOOM, inspiration leaves you. 'Why?' you cry out, feeling rejected by your own imagination. This dreaded feeling is called writers block.

But there are things you can do to quicken or forgo this heartbreaking situation:

-Nature. Full of some of God's most amazing creation. Take a step away from your computer and go outside. Take a notepad and write down what ever comes to mind, whether random or sensible.

-Writing Notepad. This is what that notepad is for, writers block. Make sure to keep it going because, if you haven't already, you will encounter writers block.

-Ask. As a famous saying goes, 'Two minds are better than one'. Ask if your mom, dad, friend, or sibling is willing to let you pick his/her brain. Trust me, it helps.

And if all else fails, maybe you just need a break. 'To much of a good thing is a bad thing'. ☺
